tiny dancers

A graceful headlock ha! So this hugish headlock is special to me because the girls were able to take a ballet class together this winter. I snapped this at one of their classes.  They are closer in age then my sisters and I were, there are some definite awesome pluses to having kiddos close in age.

I hope that my ladies grow to appreciate one another.
My sisters are absolutely two of my best friends and I am grateful for them, they council me and encourage me and know me the best.
Stella has been registered for Rec Ballet and was not happy to be alone in the class but when the instructor invited her big sister Amelia to join, Stella really stepped out of her shell. It was total coolness!!!!  I hope that they will always be able to do that for one another. Love them and so grateful for them.

Green St. Patrick's Party

This is a sweet group of party people!!!!
We have had a few years in a row hosting a green party and when I was asked back in January from Miss Camilla about a party, I knew we needed to have some green fun again this year.
It is crazy to me that next year Amelia will be in school for the full day so activities like this are all the more precious. So we had some food, some crafting and some fun with our second cousins!

The food was all green and listening to the kids discuss the green macaroni was particularly entertaining.  Once someone tasted it and gave everyone the ok they ate up.  Hyrum even had seconds!

Each little person was able to decorate their own cupcake for dessert and it was awesome!  Neely and Joseph's faces were epic :) There was no time to photograph we were in wipe 'em mode.

Miss Jacey was skipping afternoon classes to join us and it just wouldn't have been the same without her.  Also, I am trying to win over Joe as a little BFF (we are getting to be pretty tight).

Of course no party would be complete without some crafting.  It was amazing to watch the littles create this year, there was hardly any mess....like any!!! A sure sign that our babies are growing up sigh.

The party ended with some coin tossing!
Who doesn't love throwing things with your mother yelling encouragement?!?!?!

goofy green girls

Just another day, except we were wearing green, eating green food and being goofy green ladies!
I have found some sweet hair people to copy on Instagram and am totally hair inspired, kinda fun...shamrock hair, how rad?  Amelia told me that she "loves when I do cool hair" on her :) We didn't go crazy around our house but boy there was some leprechaun mischief in Amelia's class.

taking a moment

I am taking a moment...

Stella Bella just grew up a ton today.
She can do up her own zipper!!!!! This is mostly exciting, a little sad though too.

Amelia Bedelia had a dress rehearsal for her spring festival and she loved it!
So old looking, acting mature one minute yet silly with her little dance friends AND wearing make-up, what?!?!

I read an article a while ago that talked about how firsts are acknowledged with excitement and fan fare but lasts often slip by unnoticed. So today I took a moment thinking about how quickly the time has passed. No need for zipper help, what?!  There is the stage where you are needed for every little thing but that has passed, the women are growing and developing skills, able to do so much on their own. They are awesome and it is thrilling to watch, certainly makes a parent proud even though the word bittersweet comes to mind.  They don't stay little forever.

We are also in this window where they are able to do many things together; Amelia and Stella get to dance together on Saturday's, they are together for Rhymes & Story Time, they play with the same things, they are registered for Plunge and Play together...it is a special time for them.  They are best friends and I hope that will always be so but this togetherness will not always be possible so it is to be cherished.  Need to remind them of how special this time is, all of this together time ;)

bedtime stories

Gotta sleep together on non school nights, simply a must!!!!!

We have always read stories with the girls before bed, it is part of our routine (most folks do).  I have sweet memories of bedtime stories while I laid awake on the top bunk listening.  We would try to stay up until my dad got home from working his 12 hour shift then beg him to read to us. He read us Treasure Island, Robinson Caruso, Black Beauty and a few others.

Last Valentine's we gave Amelia 'Charlotte's Web' but didn't really get into it until after Christmas this year.  The ladies pick what they would like to read before bed and lately we have really been hooked on Wilbur the pig and his life. We are nearing the end of the story and Graham was reading the other night will I tidied up and the ending always gets me....totally crying!

A friend shared that it is those family memories that one ought to imprint in our heart.

cookies

Oh these women!!!!!
They love the kiddie cars at Safeway and they love the bakery cookies.
The cart is heavy to push and the cookies can sometimes be crumbly and make for a bit of a mess BUT I am pretty sure these are some of the things I will miss as they get bigger.

Cookies, getting kids through grocery shopping one bite at a time.

100 days of school

Amelia recently celebrated her 100th day of school!

It is a big deal and a grand celebration at school.  I was able to attend as a volunteer and Miss Russell made it very special. Zero the Hero came (the Vice Principle) and the class did a few different activities counting to 100.  I love when learning is fun in disguise :)
We made some shirts, little sister needed in on the bingo dabber design muhahaha we counted twice!!

Just before home time the lights were turned off and each student was given a glow stick because they were '100 Days Brighter', seriously fun day with cute activities!
I also couldn't help but snap a quick pic of what Amelia wanted if she had $100....yeah we want a puppy too little girl!!!
