calves & horses & bouncy house fun

Driving out to Grandma Hinko's farm the view was just stunning.

The baby calves were absolutely adorable!!!! Uncle Ivan (my dad's cousin actually but we call him uncle) took over his parents farm and he is right next door to Grandma, his cows are so pretty.  We pulled over because they were right up by the fence so we rolled the windows down for the little girls in the back, I got out and called them but apparently they don't answer to "calfie" (that is what my Grandparents used to call out).

We are also big fans of the horses that rent the pasture at the farm. We cut up an apple and the girls were smitten with them!

Beth, Jim, Grace and baby Hudson came out for the afternoon also.  It was great bouncing with the little ladies in the bouncy house.

Woohoo for sunny afternoons and no school!!!!!!! Summer is here.

Tball wrap up

Oh my, these ladies and Tball. Stella eagerly waited her turn to play this year!  The last day of school was a double whammy day because it was the last day of Tball too.  When we asked the ladies what their favourite part of playing ball was, Stella told us the juice boxes on the last day....seriously hahaha  They have enjoyed it and they get to bond with their dad over his love of baseball, t is pretty cute.

School's Out For The Summer

Woohoo!!!!!!
We have all been eagerly waiting for school to get out, seriously counting down the days.  Amelia has had two great teachers this year and grew in her skills.  Her report card made us proud and she should feel pleased with the result of her efforts. She is a kind girl and works hard, we are so impressed by the young lady she is becoming. The students were asked to exit through the front door of the school and as students were leaving they were sprayed with silly string from their teachers, while the sound system played the song 'Happy' by Pharrell. So fun!

The Summer Bucket List is ready to be written out and we have some fun things planned these next few days.  Gorgeous weather, bathing suits and no schedule, that is what the next few days will hold I think.  I dug out our slurpee cups because we needed to have some celebratory drinks! Yeah, shcool is out for the summer.

Bittern Lake Retreat ~ Girls Weekend

Bittern Lake Lodge is just outside of Camrose and made for a wonderful girls weekend.  The Lodge is out in the country and the great room has huge windows so while we work we can enjoy the beauty that surrounds the lodge.  Oh and the food is spectacular!!!!!  It feel over Leslie's birthday so we had a cake and did a bit of celebrating!  It was so nice to gather with my sisters, mom and Gramma Hudkins, being with these women is so rejuvenating.

Gramma Hudkins had a few projects and I snapped this picture of her writing letters to her Great-Grandkids (my girls included).  Her vision makes these tasks a challenge but she never complains.  One of the best, one of the best women I know!!

Leslie just LOVED the critters around the lodge hahahaha, not really but we made her pose for a picture with this coyote.

Such a great weekend to recharge. Graham and our little ladies had a blast together, they have their special things they do when I am away.   It is good all around.   They are always excited for me to leave so they can have their dad to themselves but Graham reassures me that they are eager for me to return.

Father's Day

There is a lot of love for this guy, they could hardly wait for him to wake up this morning to celebrate Father's Day!  It was hilarious because Amelia kept singing him the Happy Birthday song because she apparently feels it is very celebratory and would add to his happiness today :) What a kid!

We had a few special things for him and I think he felt special.  After a bacon and egg breakfast the girls asked us to sit down because they wanted to sing to their dad. It was darn cute! It was an impromptu song for Graham.

It was also pretty cute the gifts for dad's at church, cupcakes with mustaches! Awesome!!!!

We had actually planned to be camping this weekend but opted to stay home after all of our Fort McMurray family was able to go back north with the boil water ban lifted.  A quiet house for the weekend, with a quick visit to Skeleton Lake for a BBQ with Graham's dad. It was lovely!

Being ever the nerd I found these shirts last year on sale and saved them because how cute "RAD LIKE DAD"!!! Amelia pulled out Graham's faded Disney shirt that says "SORRY GIRLS, I'M TAKEN" with Prince Philip on it, she requested he wear it after church.  We went for a family bike ride because the guy likes to ride, even if it was slow and full of lot of encouragement to get us home, I think we had fun.

We all love this guy so much!
He is the rock of our family, the hardest worker I know.
He is absolutely my sidekick, the peanut butter to my jam.

The bearded guy below he's my dad and one of the best people I know!  He has a heart of gold and I love him lots. He calls us 'his circus' but the joke is on him because that makes him the ringmaster, the guy responsible for it all hahahahaha

I am thankful for our father's, both Graham's and mine.  I have been blessed with Grandpa's who played instrumental roles in my life, taught me lessons and continue to be a source of wisdom. Fatherhood is a precious role, I love seeing Graham as a daddy to our little ladies! These roles of the men in our lives have ripple effects.

out on our wheels

We are pretty hardcore on our bikes these days!!! I asked Amelia to take a picture of me and the beauty they bought me for Mother's Day, I LOVE IT!  I joke about not being a biker but honestly it is pretty great hitting the trails with the ladies. Stella and I both have baskets so when we stop at the mailbox it is either her or I who holds the mail.  They take it so seriously, it is pretty cute.

On our way back the sky started getting darker and darker, rain drops started falling and goodness we barely made it home.  Amelia screamed "bike faster!!!!"
These ladies rock! Oh how I adore them. May we have many more biking adventures ahead of us.

hand holding and hugs

We celebrated Grandma Lorincz's birthday, she turned 82!!!!!
Absolutely a cause for celebration and a reason to go out for dinner. The little ladies each took their turn sitting by Grandma, Amelia snuggled right in for hugs before dinner arrived and Stella slipped in before dessert and when I looked over they were holding hands.  My heart was full.  Much gratitude for her quiet example.

Gramma Time

There have been many special moments these past six weeks, many hard moments for our family but special because of the time we have had together as an extended family.  My dad jokes and calls mom 'super gramma' but she truly is. There is a sensitivity and intuition she has with each of her grands, I have witnessed it.  She has a great love for them and they for her. It has been a pleasure getting to have our Fort McMurray family with us these past weeks. We love having them all here.

painting with rhubarb

Kids are cool and creative. Tina and Isla stopped by for a visit and we pulled a bunch of rhubarb for her to take home. Before it could be used for crumble the littles discovered that painting with the leaves was just so darn fun.

I love it that our yard is full of cousins and aunties and friends.  Kingston LOVES the swing and will request pushes if you are anywhere near him. Max LOVES the car will spend hours getting in and out of it, literally hours with the car. A silver lining to the crazy wildfire, family time!
