The title describes my feelings about sleeping right now. Stella is sleeping good up here at my parents - the best she's ever slept actually! Amelia's sleep habits are bad, real bad...no naps and often early wake-ups which result in her AND I sometimes getting pretty ugly!
With our Miss Stella, her hours of sleep per day have been crazy since we vacated our old house. The den was apparently not very conducive to good sleeping. I am so happy for her. She has really become a different kid and I can't help but wonder if being in a dark corner of the basement has helped. Perhaps we should put her there in the new house, joking. Honestly, thrilled that she is sleeping more.
Amelia Ann, Amelia Ann, Amelia Ann oh our girl. She had been a champion sleeper really since birth but moving has thrown our woman for a loop! Afternoon naps have been on their way out for a few months now...oh how I have clung to them. Last week was challenging, like sending frustrating texts to Mr. P, whilst our daughter spazed out...that kind of rough!!! Each afternoon was a fight, often ending in tears from my girl and a headache for me. After a few good talks with my mom, a cry on my hubs' shoulder, some personal prayers and a blessing, I turned a new leaf this week. I do have some strengths as a mother but being flexible/changing isn't one of them (ya trying to work on that). Anyway, this week has gone so much better. I am still expecting quiet time from Amelia while little sis sleeps but the fight is no longer and I think we are both feeling better. I also have some ideas for an afternoon routine in our new house...oh is that being flexible?! ah man the teacher in me!
Stella Bella always gets bedtime cuddles with a song. Sometimes she will reach for the playpen in my momma's sewing room before I am even finished singing, my voice isn't that bad!! But oh how I cherish our few minutes swaying, having her nestled on my shoulder. And my Miss Amelia, even though sleeping has been a challenge at my parents, I am treasuring when she climbs in for cuddles at night. I love the sweet smell of her shampoo and hearing her gentle breathing when she finally nods off. I have just decided that these moments are precious and fleeting, they will still get hugs as teens but they likely won't allow singing or cuddles in bed and certainly not hair smelling.
Even while working through a tough phase/challenge, when I take a step back there is such joy! So very thankful to be a mother (getting emotional right now)... I think about how only four short years ago this life was a dream and now it is our reality...very blessed.
So thankful for Mr. P and our ladies!
