This past weekend I was able to attend a scrapbooking retreat with some friends and it was AWESOME! We left Friday morning and stayed until late Sunday afternoon, a Red Seal Chef cooks all of your meals as well as a few yummy snacks like cinnamon buns and cookies with fruit smoothies....scrumptious!!!!!!! Graham is a great hubs and I don't worry an ounce about our ladies because he is such a kickin Dad, he mostly knows the ins and outs. Although I do miss them all (Graham included) it is so refreshing to have time away. The retreat is actually at a Hunting Lodge with a bunch of scary, stuffed animals but that aside it is super relaxing and productive. We visit and work away! I brought a Christmas present project I wanted to finish and also brought the laptop with high hopes of plowing through our family pictures on my online scrapbooking program. I wanted to try a new program but got frustrated and reverted back to the one I know, ugh really need to just be more brave and have more patience with myself. Anyway, I finished my project, finished one online album and have four months left for our 2012 Polischuk Family Album. We all enjoy looking at the finished albums, so it is fun and so worth the effort.
This year we had a very quiet group of ladies, very quiet. I am a talker and pretty social but I must say it was actually very nice. Peaceful is the word that comes to mind, lots of thinking time. As I organized and arranged pictures of our family from the previous year I was overcome a few times with gratitude and love for my little crew. On Sunday we snuck into Camrose to hit the first hour of church, have the sacrament and kinda cool, the speakers talked about FAMILY. I found myself again thinking about my family and what specifically I can do to be better for each of my girls and my hubs, how can I be a little better, in turn to help them be better, grow into a stronger family. I know that I write this often but it is such a long awaited privilege to be a parent, one that I am so grateful for. One of the speakers said how becoming a parent "saved him, made him be better". Not that I was not a good chick before but as I look back over the past four years, nothing else in my life has propelled my personal desire to be better then parenthood. Often my short comings erupt or are exposed and goodness it makes me want to be better for myself and my family!
I have continued to think about my little fam, each of them and their goodness and sweetness. I am so thankful for their uniqueness, I thought and prayed about each of them. I am glad I had the quiet and the time to do so. I totally came back refreshed; ready to cherish, teach, have fun and nurture. I know the weekend was needed and as we've run errands the last few days, running here and there I have a renewed patience and appreciation them. Stepping away for a few days allowed for some perspective, I was able to think about a few things differently - not even really big things, just things in our everyday life. So worth it, I am certainly a little better after this weekend.
Every little bit helps!! Ha!!
