the den

We have done a bit of work in the den and I am so pleased. I am a nerd for house stuff and whenever I go in there it makes me smile.  The chalk board hasn't changed since the girls' birthdays because I used a chalkboard pen so I may need to repaint it :( I am fond of what is written but still change is fun and I so enjoy changing up the board in there. Toffee trashed the carpet so I picked up a new one for only $50 and it is an inside/outside rug so perfect for the bunny to be on.  Mr. P helped me string up the birthday banner I made this spring and I think it looks so cute. This room seriously makes me smile.

On a more serious note I snapped a picture of Amelia standing by the 'Polischuk Summer Book Tower' where we are recording the books we read this summer.  It is now taller then her and we are pumped to see how far up the wall we can get it before grade one starts. Oh how wonderful pinterest is for great ideas!!!

baking with berries

We got a little busy with with Great Grandma Hinko this week, after all we did have a ton of fruit to work with!!!!!  Gma Hinko is a great baker (both of my Grandma's are actually) so whenever she comes out to stay we usually do something in the kitchen.  This time we made use of those berries and made some pies and tarts.  We ended up making 9 pies and many, many dozen tarts!!!! We used saskatoon berries, raspberries, pumpkin and our very own rhubarb from our garden.  This time we were inspired by pinterest to do cut outs with our pie dough and they turned out darling, the girls LOVED putting flowers or butterflies on their pies/tarts :) Nelly was over the one day and shocked us all with her desire to help, she rocked for someone so little!

There is something awesome about being in the kitchen with women you love, baking or cooking, making the house smell yummy! I am so thankful for the women in my life and the talents they poses and willingly share. I said of the day that we were 'making pies and making memories'!

berry picking in Rocky Mtn House

Our Aunt and Uncle have a lovely acreage in Rocky Mtn. House and we took a road trip out there because some berries were ready for picking. We met up with Cousin Addie and her adorable little crew, we made an adventure of it.  The littles mixed up vehicles before we took off and 3 adults, 8 kids made it there safe n happy ;)

The mini horses were so cute and the kids loved them!  The wagon was also a hit and Jacey gladly shared as everyone took a turn.

Amelia and Camilla are only 6 weeks apart in age and they love being together.   In Mia's last letter to Cami (they are little pen pals) she wrote that she "wished Cami was her other sister", it was pretty adorable. They have something special there.

When they weren't outside they were colouring, playing the piano, playing in the billard room or spinning the rocking car with everyone loaded on.

Almost everyone, just missing Alyson who was taking the picture.

Lots and lots of berries!!!!!! We ended up with 90 cups of raspberries and a ton of saskatoons.  I see some pies and jam in our future.

I just had to snap a picture as we drove home. Beautiful.

birthday pictures

My cousin Emma is a tremendous talent behind the camera!  We had a session with the little ladies and although I left thinking; perhaps we would need a do over I was sooooooo pleased with the shots she got of our girls :) We did an animal theme for their bday party and these dresses were crazy cool!!! So wild!

I am pretty much in LOVE with these images!!!!!

I am totally a nerd who does yearly birthday pictures.  I love looking back and seeing their changes!! Totally in love with the smiles and silliness that these girls bring to our family.

exploring with the Birds

The Bird girls and our girls are more like sisters and we went exploring together at the Telus World of Science Center the other day.  So many smiles, so much fun!!!

There was a traveling dinosaur exhibit, it was very cool. At first the humongous mechanical dinosaurs scared Stella but by the end of the spectacular interactive exhibit she was picking the craziest mask to put on...check out the middle picture. Sadly Amelia had to miss that part of the day because she was getting her attitude in check with her dad in the car (it is always so hard to have your little people have consequences that suck for everyone). We were also able to visit parts of the Science Center that we hadn't previously. We got to check out one of the stars show on the 'Space Race', it was fascinating.  Perhaps it is because the girls are getting older but we spent nearly 4 hours having a blast exploring....definitely a highlight of summer stay-cation.

Max n Relax

Our little cousin Max came to visit, oh and his mom Auntie Jenn too ;) She is just about to go back to teaching this fall so took the opportunity to come visit for a few days and it was a blast!!! We packed in a lot of fun activities and had lots of snuggles.

Taste of Edmonton was yummy and interesting. It is always neat to check out the different restaurants and food vendors out wanting to entice you to spend your tickets on their eats. The girls ended up being big fans of the fire cooked pizza which was cooked over a fire in a firetruck ironically.  My personal fav was the donair poutine - how did I not know this existed before TOE? Apparently it is a thing!!

Now the Legislature Pools are synonymous with summer for our family. We LOVE going there! It was so great to have Max along and watch him exploring the textures and water, such fun.

These snuggles were an AWESOME perk of having company this week :)

We also got in a lunch date with Great-Grandma Lorincz and the girls gave her a smoosh kiss, which was adorable. Three great-grands is a pretty special thing.

The girls and I were goofing off in a photo booth while shopping at WEM just using my phone, but they still thought it was super cool to go in a pull the shade and make funny faces!  I LOVE how fun these women are!!!!! Seriously such a blast this summer with them.

It was great to be able to spend a week together eating yummy food, playing at the Legislature and shopping! Yeah for baby Max and having fun this summer.
