music lovers

Music lessons have evolved again at our house!  The girls' violin teacher had to go on bed rest for her pregnancy and as I discussed lessons with the ladies, piano with Auntie Alyson won out.  We are incredibly lucky to have her living close and be willing to take them on half way through the year.  We have kept our violins too and made a plan to work on memorizing the pieces they worked on this fall. These ladies are just the awesomest!!!! Most mornings they go off to get dressed, make the bed and practice, while I shower and start breakfast. Super proud of them!

It was pretty special today because Amelia gave Aunite Al a treble clef stitched necklace she made. For book fair she wanted spending money so did a whack of chores to make $12 and then bought a stitching book.  She got right to work on it after school and with a little help it turned out so great.

wacky hair day

These ladies and I always love to participate in 'wacky hair day'!!  It is honestly a pleasure to get to do their hair. We picked some options on Pinterest and then narrowed it down to a donut and a unicorn. Materials used were a plate, an old sock and a toilet paper roll.  Last year the easter bunny brought some hair dye which only added to the coolness!  Poor Stella was actually home sick from school today but really wanted her wacky hair still, so we did it.  Oh these girls of mine, it a pleasure to be their momma.

hot chocolate date

Our little Stella has just grown so much since becoming a grade one girl.  It seems like she had this massive growth spurt and I just want to cherish her, freeze time. I miss our post morning kindergarten dates in the afternoons, just her and I.  When I was pregnant with Stella and just had my toddler Amelia I was keenly aware that my alone time with her was precious, I had the same feeling last year as Stella and I had those few hours together each afternoon....precious.  Amelia Ann has Activity Day Girls every other Tuesday night so sometimes Stella and I have a little date night during that time. They do special donut dates with dad but us ladies, we like our hot chocolates, frozen hot chocolates or slurpees.   My darling Stella and I grabbed some hot choc and then hung out, just her and I.  I love listening to her stories about school, this woman has a great imagination so was telling me all about the pretend world her Amelia have created when they play babies.  Gosh I love my girls!!!

sick at christmas

We've been battling illness hard this month!
Mostly our sweet Amelia has been sick. After this darling picture, she went to school and promptly got tummy sick, coming home and missed her Christmas Concert poor girl.

Lots of missed days of school and a few doctors visits.   Movies, forts, popsicles, lots of water and Tessa the trusty guard dog was on duty.

We even had to cancel our family big dinner because you can't host when your house is oozing with germs!!!!  Luckily as we bid farwell to December the girls are mostly back to normal and we are super grateful for health.

Merry Christmas DAY

We were lucky to have mom join us but sad that dad was only a few days post surgery and couldn't. 2017 has not been great BUT we tried to make the best of it!!  The littles loved having Gramma around and we were certainly thankful for Facetime so we could see Uncle Mikel and Grampa.  Super cool is that we ordered Mom handbells for Christmas from us kids and she was thrilled!!!!! After presents and crockpot breakfast (which the savory one was scrumptious and the sweet one a bit of a fail) we had a mini concert. Mom, Leslie, Amelia and I played tune after tune. We even Facetimed Dad again so he could see.

Lots of funny Jib Jabs, lots of laughs, lots of food and lots of love.

Inspite of the year and perhaps because of it, turning to Him has seemed like the only way to press forward with a bit of peace and joy, when honestly the ulternative is sadness.  So we focus on Him and seek to come adore Him.

Merry Christmas EVE

This year Christmas EVE fell on a Sunday, so the morning was spent at church with a beautiful sacrament meeting Alyson helped narrate, it was a perfect way to start the day and the next few days.  The Bird family came for appies and to sleep over, Gramma Hinko arrived to spend the night too.  It was a very different year but we made the best of it and focused on the good we had before us.

That evening the cutie kids opened up pjs and looked so adorable, even Tessa had a new crocheted sweater to match the girls new pink hats. Treats for Santa and the Reindeer were put out, scriptures were read telling the story of Jesus' birth and although excitement ran high, the little folk were pretty tired too!!! It is wonderful to be a parent at Christmas and to be able to cherish the magic of it all.

New slippers for the Polischuk women - they were big hits!!!!

Before the adults went to bed I snapped a picture of the tree in all of its glory, it is the place the children run to when they wake.  The tree is usually one of the first things we set up and the rest of the Chirstmas decorations kind of trickle into their spots after we decide where to put the tree. Every night in December when the rest of the house is dark the tree lights shine bright.  That tree is the hub of it all.

tiny dancer

Our Stella-Bella is a lovely little ballerina and danced so gracefully, so sweet.  The three of us sat near the front of the theater, a great view of her busting some sweet moves.
