Gramma Time

There have been many special moments these past six weeks, many hard moments for our family but special because of the time we have had together as an extended family.  My dad jokes and calls mom 'super gramma' but she truly is. There is a sensitivity and intuition she has with each of her grands, I have witnessed it.  She has a great love for them and they for her. It has been a pleasure getting to have our Fort McMurray family with us these past weeks. We love having them all here.

painting with rhubarb

Kids are cool and creative. Tina and Isla stopped by for a visit and we pulled a bunch of rhubarb for her to take home. Before it could be used for crumble the littles discovered that painting with the leaves was just so darn fun.

I love it that our yard is full of cousins and aunties and friends.  Kingston LOVES the swing and will request pushes if you are anywhere near him. Max LOVES the car will spend hours getting in and out of it, literally hours with the car. A silver lining to the crazy wildfire, family time!

CAMPING Pembina River & Farmer's Day Parade

Another great camping adventure, our second of the season and the weather could not have been better this time. There were blue skies and great company, it made for a lovely weekend.  We met up with Grandma Hinko and Beth and her family.

Our Fort McMurray family is still here so we celebrated mom's birthday, we sang to her as we all gathered at the Farmer's Day Parade and we sang to her again at the restaurant when we went for lunch.  This lady; Mom, Gramma, Aunite, Daughter, Wife....she is amazing!!! It was fun to celebrate her.

It was super beautiful at Pembina, definitely a place we want to go to again.  It was quite a coincidence and super fun to discover the Sibley's were camping right by us.  Watching all of the littles together, brings a smile to my face.

 Grace gets on so well with our girls and was just the cutest when they fave us a performance of 'Twinkle, Twinkle', followed by a deep bow.  Of course I needed to snag a selfie with Gma Hinko.

So even though I go back and forth with my love or dislike for camping I must say there are some wonderful positives to camping;

* being in nature
*our little ladies get to have experiences we couldn't have at home
*visit new places
*gather with friends and family
*limited technology
*no schedule
*Mr. P is always with us when camping
*the girls get to sleep in the trailer (which they love)

Life is grand!

hard but sweet

It was the sweetest thing when I came across our two woman sitting together while Amelia read a story.  Things I love about this picture; A's crossed legs, her braid with a baby clip she put in, S's crossed ankles and hands in lap, big flower in her hair, ring on her finger, bed made but full of stuffies :) Good moment!

There are moments of sassy back talk, stubborn attitudes and repetitive reminders while they learn responisbility, it can be hard.  I am thankful though to be the person they see the most in their day and although there are challenges, these moments are what I want to remember.

cousin Kingston

 It has been such fun having this guy at our place. Kingston is quite the character!  He loves music, his movies and LOVES his Star Wars costume (the girls LOVE theirs too) and we sure love him!!!  The girls think he is hilarious and when they all hug it is just the cutest.  Kingston is a whole head taller and has lots of his adult teeth already, so although he seems older there is only an 8 month age gap.  We love having him stay with us!  Another positive of the wildfire.

the good 'ol library

With my momma the evacuee in town she has been able to spend lots of time with her parents, my grandparents.  We met up at the Public Library downtown and I have got to say that ALL of the libraries in our fine province (that we have been to anyway) ROCK!!! The girls and I went straight to the children's area and the put on a little play for me in the puppet theatre, then we read a few stories on the boat.  Mom and the librarians helped Gramma set up her tablet with read-a-loud books and Grampa's ears even perked up, so they might suck him into getting books onto his tablet too!

It was a fun afternoon followed by dinner all together with the Bird's at IHOP....classic!

my little sidekick

This woman is a gem!!!!!!
She will be dearly missed next year when she is off at school being all big, learning, making friends and having new experiences. I am thrilled for her to take this next step into school (clearly I love school hence becoming a teacher) BUT I am going to miss her terribly. She has been my little sidekick this year, all day just her and I. She has had Joy School once a week and the few programs or lessons we do but the vast majority of our days have been together.  On our weeks to drive for carpool she patiently waits for the bell to ring, now that it is nicer weather we usually wait at the school park but today she wanted to come sit on my lap and pretend to drive so I asked for a kiss first as payment hehehe.  I am going to take all the kisses I can get from her. She was kind of kissing my ear and it was ticklish.  Love this glasses wearing, blue eyed beauty!
