Amelia chooses to be BAPTIZED

Baptism by immersion in water by one having authority is the first saving ordinance of the gospel and is necessary for an individual to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to receive eternal salvation. All who seek eternal life must follow the example of the Savior by being baptized and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. ~ lds.org

I could share every image from our girl in front of the temple, they are stunning!  She looks so happy.  This has been a year of anticipation as Amelia looked forward to turning 8 and being baptized!  In all honesty a little nervousness too.  This decision is one she made as she takes her first steps on her personal path of discipleship. She is lucky to have her dad baptize her, pretty special.

It was very special to have a support group of little folk there for Andrew and Amelia.

This little crew of mine, they have my heart. It was a day that felt heavenly, absolutely heavenly.  So proud of our Amelia Ann.

Lots of support for our girl.  We didn't get everyone in this picture but it was wonderful to have a crew around her of people cheering her on and showing such love and support for Amelia.

A tremendous day!

slime party

Slime is kind of a thing right now.  When we started planning our summer plans a slime party evolved. We invited some of our friends and had a great day.  The sun was warm, it was beautiful and the slip n slide, bouncy house and mini pool where definitely put to use. There were twelve kiddos and I do believe they all had a blast!!

These little women, oh my how I love them.  They are the joy of our life!  It is such fun for me to plan and get them to help do these fun things. They are growing up, they can help and do, they can do so much.  I am kind of working myself out of a job. Grateful for these cool and capable little women!!!!

It was a perfect summer day!

playing the part

Summer vacation is so good for many reasons but I appreciate that there is ample time to play!  We have minimal commitments and although we do stay busy, sometimes too busy for my ideal summer dream life....they have lots of time to just play and I love listening to them.  Don't get me wrong, we seem to be in a season of tattling so it is not perfect but for the most part they are best buddies and they pass lots of time playing together.

Our little ladies have always had dolls and babies around.  They have played 'family' almost daily for many, many years now.  Something has happened lately where I see this vision of them in 15 or 20 years....being grown women, possibly being mothers!!! They talk about being mothers, how many children they will have.  I know that mothering and nuturing is not exclusive to physically being a mother.  However, they are constantly playing family where one or both has a ball under their shirt so they are 'pregnant' and the baby highchair/bath/craddle station Gramma Hinko ordered from Sears is well used, so are the wooden Ikea beds I painted a few years back. The play the part of MOTHER daily!  I hope and pray I can be a worthy example for them, I am working side by side with Graham to make our home a haven.  I have many, many short comings BUT I try my best.  I came across this quote on pinterest and it got me thinking about the picture above I snapped of them a few days ago. I also listened to a great talk from a BYU devotional last week and it has stuck with me; Women and Education: A Future Only God Could See for You by Eva Witesman.   They are learning from me, playing the part of mother but they are dreaming their own dreams.  These ladies have endless potential and opportunities ahead of them and I pray they learn and recognize what will be right for them on their life's journey's.

Dinner with a Great

Our girls are blessed to know three of their Great-Grandma's!  We have special things that we do with each of them.  With Gma Lorincz we often go for dinner.  Now that she isn't driving anymore we sometimes go get groceries together. The girls adore getting to visit with her and we are so grateful for this special relationship.  They also REALLY love her kitties, Buddy and Rudy.

It was really sweet at our last dinner date because Amelia and Gramma played Tic-Tack-Toe together, Gma won the most!  It was pretty darling to watch the smiles and the cuteness from across the table.

It's all about family!

Canada Day Celebrations

It is a big year for Canada, the big 150 Year Birthday!!!! There are lots of special things being done at the school and I thought it was just so darling how goofy the women were when they were dressed for the celebrations at school! I am grateful for teachers and a staff at school who go that extra mile to help the children learn and understand, this year especially celebrating the great country we live in!

We were super lucky this year to celebrate July 1st with the Birds and the Jacobers!  It was a fantastically fun parade and the Birds had a great spot picked when we showed up.  There was definitely a special feeling this year as many floats paid homage to our heritage and 150 years as a country, so fantastic!!! The sweet Jacober ladies have never attended a parade where they get candy, so that was pretty cool for the kids.  There were only a few small injuries and spills so I call it a success.  Oh and it is also a big day in the NHL so goodness each year it seems I get a picture of Graham checking stats on his phone hahaha - classic Polischuk family Canada Day!

Love all of these little ladies!

It was so great having Amy and her family come and join us.  The excitement ran high when they arrived the night before and there was great sadness when they had to leave and go visit their Edmonton family after the parade. So grateful they made time for us!  Seeing our little women play together is pretty darn special.

When everyone parted ways we decided to grab lunch at the Anglican Church (Nanny Bird's church) and support their fundraising efforts and then we continued on to Legacy Park.  Mr. P went to check out the car show and we spent time in the Petting Zoo and the bouncy houses, win-win.  We had high hopes of hitting the fireworks but a previous late night and a busy day....we just didn't have it in us!  Some day we will get there!

Can we just take a minute to acknowledge how cute our puppy is?!  This little Tessa girl is such a joy, an absolute joy.  We are incredibly grateful she has joined our family.

It has been so great celebrating our country and taking the day to truly relish and discuss the great privilege it is to live in Canada.  I am a big fan of the design used and love the colour used.  Canada is diverse and that diversity is celebrated not squashed and I appreciate that!

Last Day of School

Wohoo!!!!!!! School is out for the summer.
Time to toss those lunch kits and backpacks to the top of the closet.  Time to have more time hahahaha I do love me some routine but I love that summer means we don't have it.  Swimming lessons start next week and then we have a baptism coming up for our big girl but other then those things we will hopefully have lots of down time.

The girls were clearly excited! Did a little comparison on those darling smiles; First Day to Last Day....Amelia's smile has certainly changed this year!

First Day of Summer

It is officially the first day of summer! Yay!!!!!!
We still have six days of school but summer vacation feels within our grasp.

There are SO MANY THINGS that have happened these last few months as I have been on blog silence. I am eager to get back recording here but life has been 'twist turned up-side down'...just a touch.  Grateful for my little crew. Grateful for my extended family crew.  Grateful for good friends who extend a listening ear.

Some life highlights as of late:

* The Oilers made it to the second round of playoff hockey this year!!!! It was exciting.  No one was more excited then the big guy.  After years of watching the team struggle we were oh so proud.

* Fidget spinners!!!! They are apparently all the rage and my girls dug into their piggybanks to buy them.  Actually we were at the dollarstore, they saw them, wanted them and then promised to dig into their piggybank to pay me back when we got home.  I think they are kind of silly toys but the women are learning about money and saving.  Part of me is proud of them though and excited to watch them learn money management.

 * The gorgeous weather has meant lots of outside time!  We planted our garden and set up the deck furniture, added some flowers to the yard.  Days like these I wish we could just freeze time.  These women, this dude...my favourites. The sun was warm and we pulled out the slip n slide even.  The women are getting more adventurous because in years past the sprinkler actually freaked them out.

* Biker babes - of the tamest kind! One of the most sought after activities is biking up and down the paths in our area or on their birthday scooters in our driveway.  They really like to get out.  Again, one of those getting older perks....they can go farther and for longer!  Graham wanted to wake upa nd go biking with her dad for her birthday but it ended up being rainy so they saved their 'date' for another day.  Mr. P really like biking and although he likes going hardcore in the mountains and by the river valley, I am pretty sure biking on the paths in our neighbourhood is at the top of his favourites list too.

* The Spray Park is such a wonderful way to cool down and eat a meal out side!!! Nothing beats packing a picnic and letting the ladies run around or play in the sand at the park.  I actually like to spread my blanket right between the two because they usually go back and forth.  It usually means they are exhausted and after a bath, it makes for a quick bedtime.  I also love that all of our lessons/programs are done and the flexibility to just go biking or to the spray park are easier.  No spring sports was certainly the right decision for our family this year - for many reasons really!!!

Now that we are on the home stretch to school being out and the days are long it is making me excited for our summer bucket list and all of the adventures we will have over the next few months.  You can bet I will be snapping lots of pictures and lavishing in our togetherness.  For the last 10 days at Graham's work a plant was down and the possibility of an unplanned shutdown was looming....luckily they got things going again.  It has been a good little reminder though to cherish our time together.  We have some exciting things coming up, some absolutely thrilling things like a special baptism for our big girl, an 80th birthday for my Gramma Hudkins and a few other things. So we are counting down, only six days of school left! Although I love school and routine, I am ready to toss those backpacks to the top of the closet and ditch lunch kits. Bring on summer!!
