St. Patrick's Day

I had found this print a few years ago and every year it goes up on the mantle when we decorate for St. Patrick's Day.  We aren't Irish, I've never been to Ireland (although I would LOVE to go some day) but there is something so fun and magical about leprechauns and gold coins and everything being green and all things Irish.  We gathered our green clothes, read a few books we have and then made predictions about what tricky things might happen at home and at school.  Sure enough when the ladies awoke a tricky leprechaun had made a mess in our basement, moving all of the stuffies onto the stairs. It was rather exciting!!!!  The girls were actually up at 5am anticipating the day - oh man!  At school the leprechaun had mixed up the centres and calendar in Stella's class and then in Amelia's classroom gold choins were found, so fun.

We have a few fun accessories like clover headbands, sunglasses and a big green bow tie - these little things just add to the fun of the day.  Our carpool friend came a bit early because his momma had to get to work early so he was in a few of our morning pictures of us sporting our green.  The kid life is a good life.

unicorn creations

We had seen a neat art class offered at the 4Cats Art Studio and this one was for making Unicorn Mugs so we booked 3 spots (although I think Neely could join us next time).  It was so fun to get our hands a bit dirty together in the clay and then each design our own mug. Can't wait to see the final products after they have gone through the kiln.

celebrating 76 years

Grandma Hinko had her 76th Birthday this week so those of us who lived close celebrated with pizza, tacos and cake of course!!!  Uncle Mark and Auntie June hosted us at their home and Grandma was hilarious when she came in and was surprised.  Love the lady!!!

There is something so lovely and beautiful about being together with family.  It just makes the heart feel good!  It was great to see how much the little cousins had grown, such a great time.

100 days of school

This kindergarten kid has officially had 100 days of school!!!!!

Wowzers this girl is getting big! She brought 100 hair elastics to school for her 100 things and they did some fun counting games and sorting.  Also pretty fun was that 'Zero the Hero' came to visit the kiddos, Mr. Gerwing the Vice Principal looks like he could be Zero's brother, such an uncanny resemblance.  He taught the kinders a song and they had fun showing him the different ways they count to 100. Such FUN!

Our Stella is an eager learner and has a desire to do her best work in class.  She has started to do inventive spelling creating neat things at home.  Her reading makes me almost cry because I can't believe my babies can both read to me now!!!! So proud of her.  Grateful for a creative teacher who expects great work from them and teaches them to expect that of themselves.  I also grateful that I get to be at home with her in the afternoons

Stella made her 100 shirt entirely by herself.  I asked if she wanted help but she had a plan and made it on her own, doing a star/heart pattern and then doing 100 (or more) polka dots. Love this girl so much!

braids

I love doing hair!!!!  Things are changing though, Amelia Ann has learned to braid.  She just might be the new 'hair lady' in our family.  Although Stella really likes to do hair too, both of our gals are getting pretty good.  They are growing up!
