A Day Out With Thomas the Train

I LOVE IT that my sweet Amelia is a fan of Thomas the Train...he is tied with baby dolls as her top two favourite things, you can even ask her and she'll tell you.  I heard that the real deal train was coming to Calgary's Heritage Park and of course need to get tickets.  By the time I discovered he was coming all tickets were sold out, except if you purchased a hotel package -  so we made a weekend of it!!!!  Mr. P was still in Cuba so we invited cousin Kingston, Auntie Leslie and Uncle Mikel to join us.  Such fun!!! Seriously, I was so excited to see Amelia's face and be with the kids as they experienced the train ride and the various activities the park had to offer for the event.  Here are a few of the pictorial highlights:

Train tattoos & Mega Blocks Thomas Train building...

Serious focus required and serious patience by Miss Stella.

A massive and I mean massive train set table!!  Oh and some crafty Thomas stuff which we were totally into of course.  Mia crafted, Kingston had extra train time and Stella continued to chill.

 Perfect picture ops...

Oh the train ride!  I must say that when Amelia first heard the whistle she kinda freaked and told me she didn't want a ride anymore.  Coupled with the fact that our tickets were for 1pm (aka nap time) we had to tenderly negotiate the ride. It was all good once we finally got on and settled.

What a good uncle.

Mommas and the kiddos.

Our only group shot where none of the little peeps are looking and my brother and I seem weirdly close, what evs still a memory.

Perhaps one of my favourite moments - Amelia dancing to the music.  It was so darling, etched in my mind forever as she did her one leg hop dance she does and mashed potato arm movements.

Oh the awesome ride back to Edmonton...quiet!!!

A wonderful weekend!  So so fun watching the joy and fun your children have.  Feel thankful for my ladies and thankful to have family close so they can join us.

Let us eat cake!

Why not have cake for breakfast I say?!!!
This morning we each ditched our usual oatmeal and had cake, we may never be able to go back!!!
For Mother's Day we had a yummy BBQ and angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream for dessert. Graham and the girls made the whole day really nice.  The leftover cake was just calling us to finish it.  Amelia's face was priceless when I offered our breakfast options and cake was listed as one....ya she was all over it!

Who wouldn't take this over oatmeal?
Sometimes it is nice to be spontaneous!

A lot can happen in 3 minutes

Here was 3 minutes at our house last night...

As I was putting away clothes from our suitcases my sweet daughter was colouring at the kitchen table.  The woman has been using markers for about a year and has mostly kept her colouring to paper...well that changed today!!!  I returned to a girl with a ton of new body art.  Luckily, we were off to the bath shortly after.  I remember my little sister Leslie going marker crazy on her arms when we had a babysitter once, sadly we had family pictures the next day and it didn`t all come off.  That set of family pictures we are all in short sleeved dresses my mom made, except Leslie who is wearing a white sweater over her dress. Hahahaha to be the mother of a toddler!!!!  Fun times!

Fort Mac Fun!

Finally back home after a vaca up north in Fort McMurray! It is so relaxing to be up there.  This time we saw a few friends but, spent most of our time with fam.

We do a lot of hanging out in the living room visiting...a lot of backyard chilling...

...some play dates  at the park (Amelia and Silver are 6 weeks apart in age)...

...and LOTS of reading with Grandpa!  New favourites include 'Hop on Pop' and 'Stop that Ball'.

Love visiting but love coming back home too!  Now to just finish unpacking the zillion bags you bring when you travel with kids. - SIGH-

Here comes the sun...doo doo doo doo

Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

FYI Graham is in Cuba for our dear friends wedding, likely truly enjoying the sun....lucky guy! I won't elaborate or I may cry.

However, we the Polischuk ladies continue to enjoy spending time with our family in Fort Mac and as I looked over these pictures we took in the backyard today, the Beatles song above just kept running through my mind.  It is a personal favourite, such beautiful lyrics!!!  They seem to ring true for our little fam this past winter.  Spring is finally here!  Amelia even said to me today, "that the snow is gone and summer is coming".   It is fun to go outside in shoes that allow toes to wiggle and just a tshirt, no buttons or zippers to do up...love it. In or out in a matter of seconds, awesome!!! Not to be taken for granted.

We do have DSL camera (I think that is the right term) that sadly I don't really know how to use, it is on my life to-do list though.  I do always keep the little point n shoot with me.  I really love my ladies, sometimes my simple camera set in auto just takes kickin pictures and I don't know why....well aside from the beautiful subjects!

Attempt at a sister shot....nope!

Love being 'home', family is always good. Even love Fort Mac as weird as that might sound, it is still home.
My dad and brother put up snow fence so that Tula could join us, so nice.
Excited to head back to our home in a few days and have Mr. P home with us.  Boo on being separated!

The artist

Our Miss Amelia is a creative soul!
She just enjoys creating.
It is interesting to watch little folks evolve, developing interests, talents and becoming the people they have the potential to be.  Each of my little ladies has immense potential!!! All little folk do!
Specifically as their momma, I feel that, I see that, I know that, I repeatedly have glimpses of that potential.  Ohhh the responsibility to help them reach it.
The more opportunity we give Amelia to create the more she does, it is pretty beautiful....the end result as well as the process.   I suppose this is true with all things, if we expose them to that which they express interest, the interest may grow.  We are up in Fort McMurray visiting family and had dinner at Auntie Jenn's house.  Auntie Jenn teaches art one of the High Schools here so there were unlimited cool art supplies. Amelia got to paint a canvas before dinner....fun stuff!!!

Love that creative Auntie Jenn for helping.
Love that creative Amelia.

Momma Embraces the Camera

I am rarely in photos with my girlies, because I am usually the picture taker.
I stopped, took a minute today and snapped a few of the me with each of my beautiful babes!

Might try to do this more often because it warms my heart seeing us snuggled together in a photo.
Love these women!
