In honour of Stella..

In honour of my baby girl...a hum...big girl Stella turning ONE I thought I would record a few things we love about her:

* she has this crazy hair that stands up - everyone loves it including her momma!
* she loves her momma most of all and would happily hang out on my hip all day long
* she likes singing, especially the song we made up about cousins jumping on the bed
* mimics a ton of sounds/words and even had her first two word phrase this week "that's dad" while looking at his skype profile pic (we are in Ontario this week with Jacey n Alyson at Ability Camp)
* this chick loves being in her walker or having us hold her hands so she can walk
* she digs most foods and has been into holding utensils lately, coolness!
* big sister still gets the best laughs from her and gosh we all love to hear them!!!
* likes routine and bathtime can't be missed even if it has to be quick
* a big time cuddle bug and will often pat our back when we pick her up...this is cherished!

While in Picton, ON for supper we stopped for a few pics down a pretty looking alley....yes it was a pretty alley with nice white walls.  Shock of all shocks my girl was in a smiley mood (like her big sister she has mastered the serious 'Polischuk face').  She has been rather unsettled being in a new place, new bed, new noises and all that jazz, but she was in a happy state so I snapped away.  These pics are from my cell phone as my memory stick was in the computer but they are DARLING!  I feel so blessed to have this sweet girl as my daughter. I hope she will always remember how precious she is to us and her Father in Heaven.  She has such spunk and I know that will be an asset in life! Love this girl!!!

Stella is one!!!

We are at Ability Camp with cousin Jacey and Auntie Alyson. It is amazing to see the great strides Jacey has made in her development!   Yesterday Stella turned the big 1  and we celebrated among new friends.  It was a blast!!!  We had a potluck supper - which was AMAZING and Gramma Hudkins made a special cake dessert which we topped with a candle.  It was a super fun day!

Glad this big girl is in our family!

Front Porch Sitting

One of the things we love about this house is the front porch (we made sure our new house has one too)!  Many an hour has been spent hanging out on the front porch in the years we've lived here; painting with water, chalk and blowing bubbles.  Our porch faces west so we can watch the sun set in the evening, it is quite lovely. Right now our tree is in full bloom (another element of this house we will miss and plan to duplicate again in the new house).  It is an ornamental crab apple tree which smells awesome, the bees were just buzzing away.  Sitting on the porch we heard a low hum coming from the tree. Sunday night was the first time this spring we were able to hang out on there as a family, yahoo Graham is actually home with us for the long weekend.  We had left the girlies church clothes on so it made for adorable pictures!!!!

Love hanging outside with my family.  Really need to make it happen more!

I interviewed Amelia and received the following responses:

Meet My Mommy
Mother's Day 2012

What is Mommy's name?
Mommy Jenny Polischuk

How tall is Mommy?
Big

What does Mommy do for fun?
Plays with Daddy

What is your favourite thing to do with Mommy?
Colour

What is Mommy's favourite food?
Oatmeal

We had a little date, just her and I!  After nap we got spiffed up and headed into the city to the Horowitz Theatre at the UofA to watch a young friend (a former YW of mine) dance.  Amelia clapped and liked the sparkle costumes.  She curled up on my lap for the performance and I totally enjoyed having her snuggled in my arms, with a baby the big sister doesn't always get that.  It was such fun!  We enjoyed dinner together, bought some  new shoes and finished off our date with ice cream.  These pics were taken as we walked to our car after the performance. It was so lovely to give my little woman my complete attention and focus, we both LOVED our date!!!!

Birthday prep for our girlies

Crazy the difference one year makes!

Well, let the birthday prep begin!!  In less than a week Stella will officially be 1 years old and eleven days later Amelia will be the big 3, wowzers the time is going fast.  The ideas for celebrating are being put into motion and one of the first projects I tackled were these number t-shirt/onesie thing-a-ma-bobs. A little cutting, a little iron on product and a little sewing to finish them off. We started when Amelia turned one and I think we will continue until she asks us to stop, they are just so darn cute.

Oh I just love birthdays!!

A Day Out With Thomas the Train

I LOVE IT that my sweet Amelia is a fan of Thomas the Train...he is tied with baby dolls as her top two favourite things, you can even ask her and she'll tell you.  I heard that the real deal train was coming to Calgary's Heritage Park and of course need to get tickets.  By the time I discovered he was coming all tickets were sold out, except if you purchased a hotel package -  so we made a weekend of it!!!!  Mr. P was still in Cuba so we invited cousin Kingston, Auntie Leslie and Uncle Mikel to join us.  Such fun!!! Seriously, I was so excited to see Amelia's face and be with the kids as they experienced the train ride and the various activities the park had to offer for the event.  Here are a few of the pictorial highlights:

Train tattoos & Mega Blocks Thomas Train building...

Serious focus required and serious patience by Miss Stella.

A massive and I mean massive train set table!!  Oh and some crafty Thomas stuff which we were totally into of course.  Mia crafted, Kingston had extra train time and Stella continued to chill.

 Perfect picture ops...

Oh the train ride!  I must say that when Amelia first heard the whistle she kinda freaked and told me she didn't want a ride anymore.  Coupled with the fact that our tickets were for 1pm (aka nap time) we had to tenderly negotiate the ride. It was all good once we finally got on and settled.

What a good uncle.

Mommas and the kiddos.

Our only group shot where none of the little peeps are looking and my brother and I seem weirdly close, what evs still a memory.

Perhaps one of my favourite moments - Amelia dancing to the music.  It was so darling, etched in my mind forever as she did her one leg hop dance she does and mashed potato arm movements.

Oh the awesome ride back to Edmonton...quiet!!!

A wonderful weekend!  So so fun watching the joy and fun your children have.  Feel thankful for my ladies and thankful to have family close so they can join us.

Let us eat cake!

Why not have cake for breakfast I say?!!!
This morning we each ditched our usual oatmeal and had cake, we may never be able to go back!!!
For Mother's Day we had a yummy BBQ and angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream for dessert. Graham and the girls made the whole day really nice.  The leftover cake was just calling us to finish it.  Amelia's face was priceless when I offered our breakfast options and cake was listed as one....ya she was all over it!

Who wouldn't take this over oatmeal?
Sometimes it is nice to be spontaneous!
