Road Trippin

Last weekend we did some road tripping around our province.  We were off down south with intentions to visit Medicine Hat via Calgary, however flooding devastation occurred and we skirted around east instead and scooted back home leaving Medicine Hat just as their city was bracing for the river to rise and flooding to hit.  It was scary to watch and read about, devastating for many families and a whole community was affected in almost its entirety.  Sadness for it all!

We did make the best of our family time and quick visit with the Jacober family. It was awesome to celebrate Amy's first 'Smart Start' home built by her business, we are so proud of her hard work.  Also so fun to watch our girlies together, it is rather special that we both have two daughters.  Good friends rock!!!  They are comfortable and the history there allows for a pretty good understanding of one another, it is worth the effort to stay connected as our lives ebb and flow.  There are times I wish I had been a better friend in other friendships because I gain so much from the awesome women in my life, much to learn. Wish I had taken a picture of Amy and I in front of her house...goodness we didn't get one together. Sometimes I am not so good with my camera.

Book n Basket Girlies

It was rather cool to walk in and see my girlies packed into the laundry baskets I had left in my bedroom.  Seriously, so adorable!  I had been vacuuming and came to find that they had gathered books and blankets, complete with a pillow each to make the baskets all luxury ha!!  I ran quickly to snag some pics of my beauties.  I love it that they love books, warms my teacher heart.

Our Daddy is a Special Guy and we LOVE him more each day!

This guy is sooooooo awesome!
We are very lucky to have him.
He is adored by all of the women in his life, right down to our dog Tula. He is an integral part of our little family and when he with us at home we are all happier.
We appreciate that he is such a hard worker,
we appreciate that he builds the best block towers,
we appreciate that he makes the best chocolate crepes,
we appreciate that he slows down the fast pace we sometimes get going at...he really helps us slowdown and enjoy things.

We had a great slow paced weekend with him, he even got to squeeze in some golfing.

We sooooooooooo love the guy!

With Love,

It's Raining, It's Pouring

We've had a lot of rain in these parts.

It is totally fun but we are definitely ready for summer sunshine. The girls have really enjoyed the puddle splashing, seriously love the splashing.  There is something so pure and beautiful about children discovering and enjoying the beauty of our earth.  They LOVE their Walmart special rubber boots and fight over who gets to hold the umbrella!  The other day after a good rain we were leaving Rhyme & Storytime and there were a ton of earth worms on the sidewalk, my super awesome big girl gathered a handful and began showing Stella and the other little kiddos from the program....I was honestly pretty stunned....way to go!  What an inquisitive, lover of creatures.  Funny because earlier this spring she was afraid of bugs and would have to sing the 'Shoe Fly' song.

Kids are cool!!

I just love Stella's expression as she went running through the puddle outside of the Bird's, pure joy!!

Even though it has been fun I think we are all ready to sing,
"Rain, Rain Go Away...Come again another day!!!"

Amelia Ann hits the BIG 4

There was some serious excitement in our home this year,
all in anticipation of June 10th the day Amelia Ann turned 4!!!!!!
She now knows that it is a special day.

We honoured both Amelia and Stella with our extended family the previous weekend so Amelia already felt like she was 4, it was rather funny trying to explain that the actual day had yet to arrive.  The night before her REAL day was full of excitement and seriously enthusiasm though!! Love it!!  We had a lovely pancake breakfast topped with four sparklers, birthday hat and song.  She was smiles the whole time, which totally made us smile.   She almost always finds her way to our bed in the morning so Graham just dumped a dozen balloons on her head as she sat playing in the morning, the thought was to have her wake up with a bedroom full of balloons.  Alas, I was to slow with the camera and didn't get a picture.  I do love these pics of her smiling in her pj's and party hat.

It worked out rather perfect to have a few friends over Monday morning to party and play, it was her actual bday.  I seriously LOVE the party prep and watching it all unfold.  A big thanks to sweet friends for helping out and helping celebrate!!!

This pic was the best sister shot I got....boo!!!!  They actually had a fun time, contrary to what the picture would lead one to believe.

So I actually made the cake and didn't even shed tears....I was close a few times but the castle cake turned out.  Cake making is not my strength but I know soon enough the ladies will be asking for DQ so I am trying to embrace the opportunity.  We played a few games but a highlight was reading 'The Paper Bag Princess' and making dragons.  The story is soooooooo good and the little folk were captivated.  It was such a great day!!!!

More to come on a later post about our Amelia at 4,
  I had her do a questionnaire.....such fun!
Happy Birthday our sweet girl!

Cirque du Soliel

Date Night...woot woot!!!!

I am rather fond of this guy and totally dig any time I get him to myself.
Life can be crazy; dogs escaping in a muddy yard, a teething toddler, a sassy preschooler but after having 15 minutes together alone I feel more like me, more chill, it sounds dorky but more grounded ready to press forward.  He is just a good dude to have as a sidekick.
Very grateful he is mine!!!
Too mushy perhaps, but very true!!!!!

We had tickets for the Cirque show Amaluna and it was AMAZING!  Every Cirque du Soliel show we have seen just blows our minds, who dreams this stuff up?   It was both beautiful and jaw dropping, just fun, fun entertainment.  Really like nothing else we've ever seen.  It was also rather neat to see the show in legit circus tents, walking up to the venue made me feel like I was a character in a book I just read called, 'The Night Circus'.  We both loved it and I am pretty sure both loved just being together.   It is so darn nice having him back from crazy work hours and night shift.

OAA #1 visiting an egg in Vegreville

We FINALLY have our dad back!!!! YEAH shutdown is finished!!!!!

About 20 times today....and I am not over estimating when I say that today Amelia (quickly followed by Stella)  professed their love for their dad about 20 times!
For reals it could not get any cuter then hearingour Amelia say  "guess what?"
we respond "what?"
Amelia says  "I really love you!" or "I love you and you are really handsome/beautiful today!"
we say "thank you sweetheart, we love you too and think you are a lovely girl, very pretty!"
Stella will say "duess what mommy or daddy?"
we respond "what?"
Stella says "I wove you mommy or daddy!"
we say "we love you too sweetheart!"
Melting our hearts!!!!!!
It was a super special day just because we were able to be together.  The way it should be - our little family playing, eating, talking TOGETHER.  Mr. P finished his last night shift Sunday night and it has been heavenly ever since.  He has the week off and is swinging back into 'normal' life.  We had an exciting weekend with a double Sesame Street themed Birthday Party for Amelia & Stella (pictures to come bc my super talented cousin Emma offered to come and take pictures).  Then on Sunday baby Neely was Blessed and we celebrated that special ordinance as well as our momma's birthday after church.  Boo ya a family fun filled weekend! Love it!

Today was our first TOTAL family day with no distractions or previous commitments.  We decided to start working on a family goal established after hearing the idea from friends.  Alberta has a lot of 'odd' statues/structures/attractions in cities and towns so why no endeavor to take a family picture in front of them.  Ha!  So fun, who doesn't want a family picture in front of a giant pysanka in Vegreville or the UFO landing pad in Cold Lake?  Really what a fun goal to have.  I just keep thinking of the ridiculous scrapbook I can make.  The big sausage in Mundare....doesn't really look  like a sausage if you know what I mean.  Anyway a fun challenge that we started today.

Odd Alberta Attraction #1  Vegreville's Pysanka 04/06/13
The egg even rotates as the wind blows.  The girls both took turns on their dad's shoulders trying to touch it, but sadly it was just beyond their reach.  I did not go on dad's shoulder to attempt touching it.

Our women love their trains and this was restored so beautifully.

Fun fact to be noted about the day:  BOTH girls really wanted to wear a pair of their matching church shoes (yes, they have numerous sets) and in an effort to avoid conflict they put them on but I also grabbed comfy and practical shoes for each girl.  After our egg picture we started drifting farther and farther from the vehicle which held our practical shoes and once the park was within sight there was no going back.....so bah this kind of sums up my women - love their fancy foot wear but not afraid to play hard!!!!

Princess Amelia freaked over this 'tower' and insisted that daddy pretend to be Flynn Ryder from Tangled.  It was hilarious to hear her bossing around Graham as she played.  Stella had to get in on it too!!!!  Adorbs!

Can time stand still?  Can these ladies just stay like this forever?  Oh how we love them.

Honestly the day could not have been more perfect!  It was precious just getting to be together, no timeline or work.  A blast, a total blast!!!!!  I feel like a very blessed woman.

Oh and a Happy Birthday to my wonderful momma because today is her real birthday!  We are so lucky to have her.
